Hot Yoga for Kansas City
The KC metro's authentic 104°F hot yoga studio. Worth every minute of the drive.
Kansas City's Authentic Hot Yoga Experience
Kansas City has no shortage of yoga studios, but finding one that delivers true hot yoga — a room heated to 104°F with a methodology built on decades of practice — is a different story. Sumit's Hot Yoga KC in Olathe is that studio, and KC residents from both sides of the state line make the drive to experience it.
Whether you live in Kansas City, Kansas or Kansas City, Missouri, our studio is a straight shot south on I-35. From downtown KCMO, the drive takes 20 to 30 minutes. From the KCK side, you can reach us in as little as 20 minutes. And here's the bonus most commuters appreciate: the drive to our studio runs against the flow of rush hour traffic heading into downtown.
We've become the destination studio for Kansas City residents who want more than a lukewarm room and generic vinyasa. Our students travel from Westport, the Plaza, Brookside, Waldo, Midtown, and the Crossroads because the authentic heat and intentional sequencing create a practice they can't find closer to home.
What Sets Us Apart from KC's Franchise Studios
The Kansas City metro has studios offering infrared pods, franchise fitness yoga, and heated rooms that hover around 85°F. We're none of those things. Our room reaches a consistent 104°F using a purpose-built heating system, and our classes follow the Sumit Banerjee methodology — a system refined over years of practice and teaching.
With nine class types on the schedule, we offer range that franchised studios simply cannot match. Our signature Sumits 80 is an accessible 80-minute practice that builds strength and flexibility in the heat. For something faster, Sumits 60 packs the essentials into an hour. And for deep recovery, Yin Nidra combines sustained postures with guided relaxation in a warm room.
This is a locally owned studio with a dedicated teaching team, not a rotating door of contract instructors following a corporate script. Our teachers know the students by name, adjust the class to the room, and create an environment where you push your edges safely.
Getting Here from Kansas City
Our studio is at 15153 W 119th St, Unit E09, in the Park Place shopping center in Olathe, KS. Here's how to get here from the KC metro:
- From downtown KCMO: Take I-35 south for about 25 minutes. Exit at 119th Street and head west less than a mile. The drive goes against rush hour traffic in the evenings.
- From KCK / Wyandotte County: Take I-35 south through Johnson County. Exit at 119th Street and head west to the studio. Approximately 20–25 minutes.
- From south KC (Waldo, Brookside): Take Metcalf Avenue or State Line Road south into Johnson County, then connect to I-35 or head west on 119th Street. About 20 minutes.
Free parking is available directly in front of the studio. Many of our KC students pair the drive with a podcast or audiobook and use it as a mental warm-up for practice.
Make the Drive Count
If you're driving in from the city, it's worth choosing a class that makes the trip count. The signature Sumits 80 is the fullest expression of the method, the traditional Hot 90 offers a deeper 90-minute practice, and Yin Nidra / Restorative is a warm, recovery-focused option to unwind.

Kansas City Hot Yoga: Common Questions
Where is Sumit's Hot Yoga KC located?
The studio is at 15153 W 119th St, Unit E09, in Olathe, KS 66062, a 20 to 30 minute drive south on I-35 from both Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. Exit at 119th Street and head west less than a mile; parking is free directly in front.
How long is the drive from Kansas City, and is traffic bad?
From downtown KCMO the drive is about 20 to 30 minutes, and from the KCK side roughly 20 to 25 minutes. Because you're heading south out of the city, the evening drive runs against the flow of rush-hour traffic pouring into downtown, so it's often smoother than commuters expect.
Why drive to Olathe instead of a hot yoga studio in the city?
Sumit's runs a true 104°F room using a purpose-built heating system — not an infrared pod or a warm room hovering around 85°F — and follows the Sumit Banerjee methodology across nine class types. It's a locally owned studio with a dedicated teaching team rather than a rotating roster of contract instructors, which is why KC students make the drive from both sides of the state line.
Which class should I take on my first visit?
For a first visit, the signature 80-minute Sumits 80 is the fullest introduction to the method, while Sumits 60 delivers the same practice in an hour. If you'd prefer to ease into the heat, Sumits Lite is a 30-minute starter and Yin Nidra / Restorative offers a warm, restorative alternative. All levels are welcome.
What should I bring, and where do I park?
Bring a mat, a large towel, a hand towel, and plenty of water, and wear moisture-wicking clothing for the 104°F heat. Mat and towel rentals and on-site showers are available, and parking is free in the Park Place lot right in front of the studio.
